Growing into the music scene in the early 70's, down the street from Blackbirds drummer, Keith Kilgo, I've toured the Showmobile summer concerts at city parks from '69 - '72, as Innovation Band, which included Butch Brady and KP, both of whom later toured with Gil Scott Heron for decades. We competed with the soon to be famous bands; EU, Trouble Funk, Cummins Electric Sound, and that band whose drummer played barefoot, yeah, Rare Essence, and the others, all before anybody knew what to do with that new percussion jam session coming out of Anacostia Park.
